"Happy Reformation Day"
Forget Halloween. I did nothing to 'celebrate'. I do appreciate the idea of Halloween -- the good-natured spooks, the little ghosts, the kids in costumes knocking on doors seeking candy, the autumn colors, the intricately-carved jack-o-lanterns, and so on, .... but today was actually
Reformation Day. I wonder how many people actually knew that.
Not many I gather. It's a shame actually. We have a national holiday to celebrate the underworld, but when it comes to religion.... who cares.
In some ways it makes me a little embarrassed to live in a country where religion is considered such a sacred freedom, yet Christmas and Easter are the only notable national religious holidays. And even then, a white bunny that brings colored eggs and an old man in a red suit are more important than the life and work of Jesus Christ.
You know, when you think about it, that's just sad.
