"Best Supporting Actress"On April 21, 2004,
Jennifer Hudson -- a finalist on Season 3 of American Idol -- was voted out of the contest and sent home. In November 2005, she was cast as Effie in the film adaptation of "Dreamgirls", and on January 15th, 2007, she won a Golden Globe for her role. Last night at the Academy Awards, she went on to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for that same role.
"Dreamgirls" was Jennifer's first professional film role. She is now only the 13th actor in the history of the Oscars to win an Academy Award in her debut role. Congratulations Miss Hudson!
