"Quote of the Day"

How to deal with Worry, Hardship, and Uncertainty.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

- Matthew 6: 25-24 (The Bible)

So, I've been pondering a great many things lately. And, yes, like anyone, I've started to worry about a few of them too. But as I was taking a walk earlier this evening, these Bible passages came to mind, and I thought I'd share them with you.

For me, as a Christian, they're a great reminder that if my focus is upon God, and my efforts upon what I can do to deal with my present struggles, then I have no need to worry about what will happen in the future. God knows my struggles, and He won't let me fall beneath them. In fact, he PROMISES not to let me fall beneath them! How cool is that! I have a loving Heavenly Father who cares so much for me, that even though I may face struggles in my life -- and I may feel overwhelmed at times -- I cannot fail. I cannot fail because my Heavenly Father loves me, and he won't let that happen.

Trust is one of the hardest things to accept in life, but yet one of the most comforting. If you're facing struggles like I am, don't get caught up in worry. That'll only bring you more heartache and pain. Instead, challenge yourself to do what Country singer Carrie Underwood suggests in one of her songs, "Jesus take the wheel." Let God do the "worrying", and you just focus on today.

And you know what? You'll be a lot happier, AND, your troubles won't seem nearly as big.

"Cast all your troubles upon Him, because He cares for you."
- 1 Peter 5:7 (The Bible)

It works. It really does.

Have a blessed Wednesday all! And until next time,

Your happily blogging friend,
-Jon
