"August Flooding"Ah, the fresh smell of a steady rainfall.
Yep, it's raining here -- again. In fact, it's been raining so much in the past two weeks, that many parts of South/west Wisconsin (the other side of the state from where I live) have been completely flooded out. Rivers have overflowed their banks, farm crops have been ruined, and small towns sit underwater. A few Wisconsin counties have even been declared Federal Disaster Areas.
Thankfully, though, today's rain appears to be the last for a while. Floodwaters are receding back within their banks, and cleanup is already underway. It just goes to show how powerful -- and damaging -- great amounts of rainfall can be -- especially here in the Upper Midwest.
Unfortunately, all this water
also serves to remind us of an even greater, and far deadlier, flooding tragedy that occured two years ago today: Hurricane Katrina.
Yes, natural disasters happen. It's a sad fact of life. But, sometimes all we can do is survive, clean up, and move on from there. God will take care of the rest.
