"Just To See Her Smile"

Earlier today, Scott and I went out to eat at our local Appleby's. He was running some late-day errands and I was along for the ride, so we stopped for dinner. As always, the food was delicious, the ambiance was inviting, and the Brewers game on the television was a good one. But what stuck out in our minds the most was... our waitress. :)

Yes, as far as waitresses are concerned, this one was one of the most attractive young woman either of us had ever seen. She was about my age (mid to late 20's), very friendly, and had a charming down-to-earth aura about her. And, while she was happy, eager to serve us, and willing to joke a bit, we also overheard that she had been working a 12-hour day (probably filling in for a co-worker after her own shift). To say she was exhausted would have been an understatement.

So, after a little discussion, Scott and I decided to do something unexpected: We left a 50% tip, and a short "You were a wonderful waitress, thank you!" note on the bottom of the bill. The cash register was near our booth, and as we left, our lovely waitress was processing our payment. The grin that crossed her face was priceless!

Sometimes in life, all it takes to show appreciation -- even to a stranger -- is a warm heart, and an unexpected gesture. And if that someone happens to be a really cute waitress, well.... sometimes it's nice just nice to see her smile too.
