"Not Yet Ninety"

Today's high temperature: 88 degrees (F). To some that may not be all that significant. But to others like myself, or the National Weather Service, it is. So far, here in Milwaukee, it hasn't hit 90 degrees this year. We've come close (like today), but we still haven't hit 90F.

According to the National Weather Service, Milwaukee has had fewer 90-degree days this decade than any decade since the 1900's. This might be due to the massive rainfall and flooding of June, or, it might the result of unusual weather patterns. Either way, the average number of 90 degree days for a normal summer in Milwaukee is 9. So far we've seen zero.

The last summer Milwaukee didn't reach 90 degrees was in 2000. Previous summers without a 90 degree day include 1915, 1882, and 1877. Global Warming? Well, Southeastern Wisconsin certainly isn't contributing to that theory. :)
