"Playoff Fever 2008: Minus 7"The Chicago Cubs clinched the NL Central today (and have guaranteed themselves a spot in the Playoffs), so the
Milwaukee Brewers can only compete for the Wild Card. Unfortunately, they lost this afternoon, and drop yet another half game in the contest. They're still in it, but with only seven games to go, it's not going to be easy. Here's where things stand at the end of today:
National League Wild Card:Team Name .... W - L ... GBNew York Mets ......... 86 - 68 ... ---- ... (8 games left)
Milwaukee Brewers ... 84 - 71 ... 2.5 ... (7 games left)
Florida Marlins .......... 81 - 73 ... 5.0 ... (8 games left)
Houston Astros ........ 81 - 73 ... 5.0 ... (8 games left)
St. Louis Cardinals ... 80 - 74 ... 6.0 ... (8 games left)
The Brewers play game three of their series against Cincinnati tomorrow, then they return to Milwaukee to wrap up the season on Tuesday. Here's hoping Sunday provides a win. Go Brewers!
