"R.I.P. GeoCities; Goodbye Footnotes"

A long-time piece of internet history has come to an end today, as Yahoo closed up GeoCities -- the pioneer of personal web pages. Back in the day, it used to be the cutting edge for individual users to publish their lives on the internet. But time has trudged on by, and social-networking websites Facebook and Myspace have long ago assumed that role.

Before I purchased the JonBaas.com domain back in early 2002, my first official website was hosted on GeoCities. I called it, "Footnotes", or in some places, "Capsule Jon". It was a simple little website, effective, but it did it's job. Today, GeoCities may be gone, but Footnotes remains. Thanks to the Internet Archive, this is what my first website looked like (back in 2001).

I've come a long way since then.
