"Scott Walker Comes to Wisconsin Lutheran College"
I just discovered some interesting news: Scott Walker, the current Milwaukee County Executive, former State Assembly Representative, and candidate for Governor of Wisconsin will be making a stop at my old college later today to make a "Special Announcement".
He's stopping at four other places in the state, so, this should be very interesting. I won't be able to attend the event, but I'll share what I find out tonight (via an update to this post). Stay tuned!
UPDATE: - (11:42 AM) I found an article about his announcement. As anticipated, he's kicking off his campaign for governor... and he's doing it from the grounds of my old college campus. I'm not all that political, and I rarely blog about it, but, if you ask me, I do think this is pretty darn cool!
It's a gloomy day today, although, only as far as the weather outside is concerned. It's raining. The cars are sloshing by on the street outside, the rain water is dribbling down from the gutter above, and the grass is starting to turn a lovely shade of green. It's Springtime. And although the day may be gloomy, the wet weather brings promise of a warm beautiful summer full of vibrant leaves, radiant sunshine, and plenty of cheerful color.
Yeah, I like Spring. And today... I really don't mind the rain.
A lot of things have been going on behind the scenes of this blog, my business(es), and JonBaas.com, so I've been a bit distracted lately. Please bear with me over the coming weeks (and months) as I seek to find solutions and alternatives to each.
Most of these distractions have been rather depressing. However, I'm a naturally optimistic person, so I'll try to keep things cheerful as usual. I've got plans to bring everyone up to speed in the next few days, so stay tuned. I'll let you know what's going on. Maybe you can help. And if you can, hey, that would be very much appreciated. By more than just me.
For now, though, I'll put one concern to rest. These distractions have nothing to do with Kelli or my upcoming wedding next year. It's going to happen one way or the other. July 10, 2010 -- for those who don't know. If you'd like to contribute funding to help offset costs, that would be very helpful too. I know it would make Kelli very happy. :)
There's a lot going on right now. So stay tuned; I'll tell all about it.
I'm going to be away from my computer for the next few days. Stay tuned, though, I'll be back on Sunday with blogging as usual. Have a great weekend all!
UPDATE: - (Saturday, 11:09 AM) Correction. Extended Hiatus. Blogging will return on Monday.
This past weekend was very enjoyable. While my parents were in San Diego for Joel's graduation from Marine boot camp, I was spending Easter with my fiancee and her family here in Wisconsin. And I've gotta say... I love them dearly -- especially Kelli's little 4-year-old nephew! Some married couples fear visiting with their in-laws, but not me. I felt right at home. Not only am I marrying a wonderful woman who is everything I could ever dream of, but I'm also marrying into her wonderful family... and that's a blessing I won't ever forget.
It's been a good visit, a great Easter, and a wonderful vacation. Here's hoping your Easter was just as joyous. Have a great week all, enjoy the nice weather, and until next time,

"Away for Easter"
Folks, I just thought I'd take a moment and drop a note.... I'm visiting with Kelli and her family this year for Easter, so, I'll be gone until sometime on Tuesday. I hope each of you has the opportunity to celebrate the real reason for the season, and I'll see you when I return!

"The New JonBaas.com"
Some of you may have noticed a new site design. As of this evening, JonBaas.com has had a much-needed face lift. Brighter colors, new logo, etc. I've decided to re-brand the site, so... feel free to look around, poke in corners, and let me know what you think!
It's official. Kelli and I will be tying the knot on July 10, 2010. Location: Tomah, Wisconsin. Countdown: 460 days. Stay tuned. Preparations are just getting under way.
"Science will never be able to reduce the value of a sunset to arithmetic. Nor can it reduce friendship to a formula. Laughter and love, pain and loneliness, the challenge of beauty and truth: these will always surpass the scientific mastery of nature." -- Louis Orr
I sit here, hoping to write something blog-worthy, but alas, I'm just too tired to think. It's been a long day. Productive, but long. I started painting a third apartment, and will finish tomorrow (moving on, then, to a fourth). But right now, I'm just plain tired. Exhausted even. So, please bear with me.... I'll write something more interesting tomorrow.
Today is April Fool's Day. I haven't seen many notable pranks (although the YouTube "everything is upside down" prank was pretty good!), and that global virus warning hasn't panned out yet.
