"Deadvlei: The Graveyard of 900 Year Old Trees"

To the rational human being, trees in a desert are rare. Unless, of course, those trees are in an oasis. But sometimes those trees are there for another reason -- abandonment. The water dried up, and they were left behind in a sea of dry sand. That's exactly what happened to a grove of dead acacia trees in a Namibian clay pan known as Deadvlei.

Here's a stunning collection of photographs that depict this oddly beautiful environment. Desiccated sun-scorched trees, black as charcoal against the lemon and apricot colored sand dunes of the desert. Quite a sight to see! Beautiful, yet haunting. Take a peek, and enjoy!
